SCRIPTURE FOR MEDITATION
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
PRACTICING THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF GOD’S PRESENCE
The sin of the fallen angels is that they abandoned fellowship with God. The reason for their creation was fellowship with God. They had no other responsibility. Their duty was to worship God daily from morning till evening. Lucifer was chief of these worship angels. As long as they carried out this responsibility, they were honoured, glorified and had their place in heaven. When they decided to abandon the purpose for their creation, they fell out with God and were thrown out of heaven.
As a result of abandoning fellowship with their Creator, they suffered the following consequences:
(1) They were thrown out of heaven. See Isaiah 14:12- How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
(2) They are bound in chains and kept in darkness awaiting the great day of judgement. See Jude 1:6- …he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
(3) They lost their glory and perfection. See Ezekiel 28:14-15- Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
Man was also created for fellowship with God. Intimacy is the essence of our creation. Abandoning fellowship with God is turning our backs on the purpose of our existence. Seeing the above dire consequences of abandoning fellowship with God, would you remain adamant and neglect the practice of intimacy?
